FBI: Bank robber made small-talk during hold-ups

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Federal agents say a convicted bank robber who held up two more banks in the Grand Rapids area made small talk with tellers as he was waiting for their money.

Michael Winbush, 53, is now being held for November robberies in Grand Rapids and Wyoming. He has a prior conviction for a Flint-area bank robbery.

In court documents, an FBI agent says Winbush talked to a teller about her Thanksgiving holiday as he was robbing a credit on South Division in Grand Rapids on November 27.

The agent says three days later, he apologized to a teller as he robbed her bank on 44th Street in Wyoming.

School holds Right to Life event

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WZZM) -- 43 years ago Friday, a decision by the Supreme Court on the Roe vs. Wade case legalized abortion in the United States.

On this 43rd anniversary, students at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School lit luminaries to remember the victims of abortion.

This is the 16th year the school has held their peaceful protest. School leaders say just because abortion is legal, it does not make it moral.

"It's a serious event but there's joy in our hearts because we have hope. And hope says someday we wont have to do this," said Colleen Lowe, Marketing and Recruitment Director at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School.
