COMSTOCK PARK, Mich.—  A new community center will officially open to the public this Saturday, Jan. 18.

The York Creek Community Center is located at 3999 Alpenhorn Dr. NW.  The center services as a meeting place where local organizations can provide a variety of classes, programs and community events, free of charge.

The new facility features meeting rooms, a common area, a kitchen and a computer room equipped with 10 computers. The center is provided by York Creek Apartments but all classes and programs are run by partner organizations, including:

  • Comstock Park Public Schools
  • Marantha Bible Church
  • Cherry Street Health Services
  • Sparta Adult Education
  • Wedgwood Christian Services
  • Family Outreach Center 

All of these groups will have temporary booths set up during Saturday’s open house, which runs from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.   Classes will include GED attainment, parenting, substance abuse prevention, health education, counseling and youth enhancement.  Organizations interested in providing a class or program should contact Jackie Hernandez at yc_business@theapartment4u.com or by phone at (616) 784-7227 for more information.
