GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- A corner store worker has been charged after allegedly assaulting a customer in October.

A customer claimed she was attacked by an employee at Fannie's Corner on Eastern Ave. after she tried to return some pizza. Some neighbors protested after the woman reported the incident.

The Grand Rapids city attorney is charging the employee, 40-year-old Mittermann Singh, with misdemeanor assault. It's punishable by up to 90 days in jail and up to a $500 fine.

The Kent County prosecutor declined to press charges in this case.

The store owner says he fired Singh following the incident with the customer.
