GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- Grand Rapids firefighters are working to extinguish a structure fire on the city's Southeast Side.

The fire engulfed the Guevara Auto Repair building, located on the 1600 block of Blaine Ave. SE, according to a WZZM photographer at the scene. Employees reported the fire started from a car being worked on, and they could not put it out themselves.

By the time firefighters arrived, flames were through the roof, they said.

A plume of smoke was seen on WZZM's tower cam in downtown Grand Rapids shortly after the fire started around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Six people inside the building were able to escape unharmed.
