GRPD murder investigation active one year later

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- It was nearly one year ago when Brian Martinez, 22, was shot and killed while hanging out in the parking lot of his Camelot Woods apartment. Police are quick to not call this a cold case-- they've been actively investigating ever since those gunshots were fired on August 29, 2012.

Martinez' image appears on a new billboard on 28th Street not too far from where he was killed. It says "You Know Who Killed Me." The billboard is one four that features murder cases GRPD is working to solve.

Officer Daniel Adams did not want to reveal a motive or weapon as to not inhibit the investigation. He did want to remind the public that they can call Silent Observer in confidence if they know anything about the case, no matter how trivial it may seem.

"That person may not know that that information they have is valuable until we have a chance to look at it, and so we encourage anyone with any information-- even just rumor-- to call us and let us know because it could be the thing that breaks the case wide open, and they just don't know it," said Officer Adams.
