My Town GR South: MapleCreek adds a dementia director to leadership team

----------------------NEWS RELEASE------------------

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.— MapleCreek, one of Lutheran Social Services of Michigan’s senior living communities, has hired Kathy Mindes as their new dementia director.

Mindes started her new position on March 3, and is responsible for the Woods, MapleCreek’s dedicated memory care program, and The Harbor, a smaller memory care unit at The Lodge at MapleCreek.

“At MapleCreek, we want to make sure we provide excellent evidenced-based care to our residents,” said Deedre Vriesman, executive director at MapleCreek. “Based on Kathy’s experience as a psychiatric nurse, and her years of experience working with individuals with memory care issues, I know that she is going to bring a breadth of knowledge and expertise to our communities here.”

Mindes comes to MapleCreek with more than 20 years of experience serving older adults in the healthcare industry. She comes from HHS Health Options and has worked at Pine Rest, both with persons with dementia.
