Gilda's Laughfest comes to Wealthy Theatre with a week of comedy films!

This matinee screening of Spike Lee's "The Original Kings of Comedy" will be introduced by local comedians Dwight "DK" Hamilton and Mr.Lmao aka Vaughan Stevens ll and the Grand Rapids Hip-Hop Coalition.

Admission: General $7.00, Members $5.00

2nd Annual West Michigan Racecar Show From Mar.10-12th

Motor racing enthusiasts will see various vehicles on display at the 2nd Annual West Michigan Racecar Show, at Centerpointe Mall (3665 28th St. SE), from Mar. 10-12th, 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Exhibitors include regional racing venues, a vendor's area with racing supplies and representatives, as well as vehicles ranging from cars, trucks, motorcycles, go-karts to lawn mowers. The show's 2011 charity is the March of Dimes.

Immaculate Heart of Mary School celebrates Catholic Schools Week

The theme for Immaculate Heart of Mary School's Catholic Schools Week is "A+ for America", promoting Catholic schools as an added value (A+) for their local communities and the nation.

On Monday, students celebrated A+ students by wearing comfy clothes - sweats, jeans, pajama pants and robes.

Other Catholic Schools Week events at Immaculate Heart of Mary School include:

Tuesday - Wacky, tacky Tuesday –jeans, crazy clothes, crazy hair; Diocesan Mass (those students attending will wear their  uniforms and change when they get back to school); 2:00 PM Senior Steppers presentation
CSW Mass at the Cathedral. Select students will accompany Mrs. Fraga.

Afrika Bambaataa performance, lecture postponed due to illness

Two Grand Rapids appearences by legendary hip-hop progeniter Afrika Bambaataa have been postponed due to illness. In a statement made by the events' organizer, Grand Rapids Hip Hop Coalition (GRHHC), it was announced that Bambaataa is hospitalized but expected to make a full recovery. The lecture and performance, both planned for tomorrow evening, will be rescheduled when the New York City-based DJ has fully recovered and is able to perform again.
