Marge’s Donut Den in Wyoming, MI will celebrate 40 years in business on Saturday, June 20, 2015. The well-known bakery is located at 1751  28th St. SW.

Marge’s is open 365 days a year but she does have shorter hours on Saturday and Sunday, only open until 4:00pm instead of 6:00pm.

Kentwood High School to host Rainbow Run

The Falcon Rainbow Run is scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2015 at East Kentwood High School, 6230 Kalamazoo Ave SE in Kentwood, MI 49508. Registration at 2:00pm, Race Time 3:00pm.

Start this 5K in White and end in Color. We are promoting unity within the community with a noncompetitive, fun event anyone of any age can enjoy.

Registration Fees:

$30 for Adults

$25 for Firemen/Police/Military

$25 for East Kentwood Athletes

$20 for Kids (12 & under)

If an entire team is interested in participating, there will be a group discount rate-please contact Katelyn Hines at 616-443-9019.

A separate registration form must be filled out for each participant.

Grammy Award-winning neo-soul musician, Erykah Badu will grace the Miller Auditorium stage for a one night only performance. Performance time is Friday, July 10, 2015 at 8:30pm.

This artist is best known for her eccentric style and cerebral music. She is a soul singer and songwriter. Her first album, Baduizm, released on February 11, 1997, was certified triple platinum and spawned the singles “On & On,” “Next Lifetime” and “Other Side of the Game.”

Free Healthy Michigan Renewal/Enrollment Assistance

Cherry Health will host a free event to educate, answer questions and help community members enroll and renew their Healthy Michigan health insurance.  The event will take place on Thursday, May 14 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Kent District Library – Wyoming Branch, 3350 Michael Avenue, Wyoming.


Enrollment staff will be present to provide information about Healthy Michigan and how to sign up for health insurance or renew current insurance.  Staff will also be available to assist with Special Enrollment Period or SEP, for the Health Insurance Marketplace, for those who qualify.


Additionally, computers will be available for community members to use to enroll or renew their Healthy Michigan coverage.  Certified Application Counselors will assist with the enrollment process as needed.  Spanish assistance will also be available.

GRAAA offers Public Observing Night on Saturday

The Grand Rapids Amateur Astrological Association invite the public to experience the amazing night sky and see a close-up of craters on the moon, the rings around Saturn and other night sky objects through several large & fully equipped telescopes.

The month of May public observing nights are Saturday, May 9 & 30 from 9:30pm – 12:00am with an opportunity to see Venus, Jupiter, star clusters, galaxies & more. The spring – fall Schedule & what can be seen is pictured below.

Public Observing Night takes place at the James C. Veen Observatory located at 3308 Kissing Rock Ave. SE in Lowell Township brought to you by the Grand Rapids Amateur Astrological Association.

Note: The Parking area is at the bottom of a quarter mile uphill walk. Ask parking lot attendant about available assistance. Public Observing Nights take place only when skies are clear on Saturday evening.

The winners of the Comprehensive Therapy Center annual coloring contest will be honored on Monday, April 27th from 3 – 4:30pm at the “Read To Me Tea” held at the Women’s City Club of  Grand Rapids, MI., located at 254 E. Fulton. This years’ subject is Cars, Trucks and Things That Go.

Guest readers who will share stories include, Mayor George Heartwell, County Commissioner Candace Chives, Ronald McDonald House Charities of W. Michigan Representative, Lesa Dion, Mursalata Muhammad of GRCC and Story Spinners of Grand Rapids.

According to Jean Silbar, Executive Director of CTC, many of the children with whom we work, will not be the ones to win academic contests or star in sports, but they have such passion to excel in the therapy they receive. We are excited and pleased to honor their work.
