Weigh in on Grand Rapids' streets June 27

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—What do you think about Grand Rapids’ streets?

Now is your chance to weigh in on road conditions.  The Sustainable Streets Task Force is holding a public forum Thursday, June 27 to help set final recommendations for the future of Grand Rapids’ street system.  The forum begins at 6 p.m. inside the cafeteria at Harrison Park School, 1440 Davis Avenue NW.   The Sustainable Streets Task Force will also present their findings and preliminary recommendations.

Last year, the Task Force found nearly-two third of the city’s 588 miles of streets are in poor condition.  The group has been developing an investment plan to help pay for $22 million in annual repairs for 15 years.   Part of the Task Force’s proposal includes changing a 95-year-old law to relieve property owners of sidewalk repair costs.

People who cannot make the forum are encouraged to leave their comments on the SustainableStreetsGR Facebook page.
