Federal, local officers make Grand Rapids drug bust

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Federal, state, and local agents and officers took part in a drug bust in southwest Grand Rapids Tuesday night.

Neighbors say it started around 8 p.m. when a Grand Rapids police car stopped a black sedan in the 100 block of Baylis St. SW, near Division Ave. S.  They say the passenger ran out of the car and into a house.

More officers, state police troopers, and agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration arrived at the scene and began searching a home on Baylis St.

A public information officer for the DEA's Detroit field office confirms agents were taking part in a "joint law enforcement operation" on Baylis Tuesday night, but would not provide further details because it's an ongoing investigation.

The driver of the black sedan was detained by state troopers, but was later allowed to drive away from the scene.
