My Town: Ryan Reardon assumes ownership of two Grand Rapids McDonald's locations

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--  McDonald’s Corporation announced Friday, May 16  that McDonald’s owner/operator Ryan Reardon has taken ownership of the McDonald’s restaurants at 1130 Fulton St. SW and 1240 S. Division in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Reardon, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, has been with McDonald’s throughout West Michigan since 2007.

Reardon, 33, is a 2003 graduate from John Carroll University, where he was a running back on the football team. The assistant coach on that team was his father Tim Reardon, a JCU and Ohio football coaching legend. After he graduated from JCU, Reardon worked in Florida in the fields of heavy commercial construction and civil engineering, and in the Cleveland area working for Pulte Homes.

In 2007, Randy and Debbie Price, Reardon’s in-laws who at the time jointly owned and operated 19 West Michigan McDonald’s restaurants, urged Reardon to enter a career at McDonald’s. He began as a crew member and maintenance worker at the Walker location, and has since held a variety of positions that have allowed him to learn all the facets of the company and have fully prepared him to act as an owner/operator.

“I grew up in that generation of kids who would hang out at McDonald’s after school; it was where everyone met and gathered from school,” Reardon said. “And now, after McDonald’s gave me a chance to grow my business career and continue the legacy forged by my father-in-law, I have an opportunity to own a business that is vital part of the community.”

As part of the new generation of millennials that are migrating to Grand Rapids, Reardon is excited about what the future holds for the community, particularly in the downtown area.

“I am excited to be in Grand Rapids, there is a great vibe in the city, and I am looking forward to being part of that excitement,” Reardon said.
