Two great acts to perform at Wealthy Street Theatre this weekend

Grand Rapids, MI - This weekend Wealthy Street Theatre presents two great musical acts to entertain people of all generations.

On Saturday The Candy Band will be performing what's described as, "high-energy, punk style kids' music." You'll hear original tunes as well as nursery rhymes, movie themes, and music from Green Day and the Clash. The show starts at 11:00 am and will last about one hour.

Sunday you can hear the local jazz band Hey Marco! playing the hits of their favorite band Steely Dan. They'll be playing all of the classic hits as well as tunes from their most recent albums. This show starts at 8:00 and is expected to last two hours.

The Cowpie Classic Concert Movie Series - The Last Waltz

Wealthy Theatre, Wednesday, November 3rd, 8:00PM, doors at 7:15PM

Martin Scorsese's 1978 capsule history of the Band is mixed with footage of the group's allegedly last performance (certainly their last performance as a quintet) in this particularly stylish concert film. Scorsese shoots the players and their sundry guests with the same flair and enthusiasm one can see in the later The Color of Money or Goodfellas. He also proves a good interviewer with Band members, particularly Robbie Robertson, whose sleepy-sexy good looks make a star-caliber impression in close-up. But the film's real hook is the stage show, which features a rotation of rock legends (Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Paul Butterfield, Bob Dylan, and so on) playing with the Band before a wildly appreciative audience. --Tom Keogh

Fashion's night out Grand Rapids is on the horizon

From: http://www.fashionsnightoutgr.com/

For the second year in a row the world will be celebrating Fashion's Night Out together. It all started last year in New York when the United Council of Fashion Designers of America, American Vogue, NYC & Company, and the City of New York created FNO to help patrons understand the vast industry of fashion and how it helps our economy. Fashion is the largest industry in New York City. The industry employs 175,000 New Yorkers which creates $10 billion in total wages. None of these jobs exist if people don't shop. That is why it was time to make shopping fun again.

Fashion's Night Out Grand Rapids has been in the planning stage for months, but now the time is almost here. On September 10th retail stores around Grand Rapids will come together for the first time in support of one thing, “making shopping fun again”.

Fun and frugal things to do with kids this week!
