GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- Linda Hundt, author of "Sweetie-licious Pies: Eat Pie, Love Life" and owner the nationally recognized award-winning Sweetie-licious Bakery Café, tells the story of her journey from start-up to star at the Loutit District Library on Thursday, Jan. 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Linda’s program will feature tips about business, mission and customer service, including :

  • How she achieved her life-long dream of owning her own pie shop without a lick of business background or money.
  • How she marketed her business through baking contests, baking classes, and every public relations opportunity available.
  • How she created such devoted customers that they not only remain loyal, but also spread the word about her product across the country.
  • How to turn every single customer into a business’s best friend!
  • How hard work and perseverance helped Linda win the Food Network’s “Pie Challenge” and twelve Crisco National Pie Awards.
  • Why folks travel hundreds of miles to experience her shop, its food, and the love spilling out of every piece of pie!

To register for this program, visit www.loutitlibrary.org or call (616) 842-5560, ext. 200. This is the first in a series of business programs in 2015 sponsored by LDL.

Hundt  will share her journey of how she went from tweaking beloved old family recipes in her kitchen to becoming a 17-time national pie-baking champion. She’ll give a behind-the-scenes look at what it was like to create her first cookbook, which received a 2014 Michigan Notable Book award.  The cookbook features recipes from her award-winning retro pie shops, including the Sweetie-licious Bakery Café in DeWitt, Michigan and the Sweetie-licious Bake Shoppe at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market. Sweetie-licious is also opening a third location this summer in East Grand Rapids.

Hundt, who has been featured on the Food Network and other television stations, as well as in newspaper and magazine articles throughout the country,  is also a sought-after keynote speaker who focuses on entrepreneurism, inspiration and pie baking.
