FIGHTHUNGERGR.ORG CALLS ON GR-AREA FACEBOOK COMMUNITY TO CHANGE PROFILE PICTURES AND VOTE TO BRING $1 MILLION IN HUNGER RELIEF TO COMMUNITY

GR/Wyoming market holds 2nd place position in national contest with 8 days to deadline

 

WHAT:

With just over one week until the Dec. 31st voting deadline, FightHungerGR.org has launched final push to win $1 million for area hunger relief organizations as part of Walmart’s “Fighting Hunger Together” campaign.FightHungerGR.org is encouraging greater Grand Rapids-area Facebook users to:

1.Vote for our community: Go to www.fighthungergr.org <http://www.fighthungergr.org/> and click “Like” before the Friday, Dec.

31 deadline.Anyone with a Facebook account can participate and there is no charge to “Like” or vote.

 

2.Change profile pictures to the “Fighting Hunger Together” logo to show

support: Login to Facebook, search FightHungerGR, go to page and “Like,”

click the “Photo” tab, click and save the logo image, upload to profile.

 

3.Share the link with friends and encourage them to vote.

 All greater Grand Rapids-area Facebook users

 

WHY:

With a hunger rate of 19.4 percent—more than double the national average—the greater Grand Rapids area ranks among the 100 American cities with the highest hunger rates.Walmart has launched the “Fighting Hunger Together” campaign to determine which of these 100 communities will receive a total of $1.5 million to fight hunger.The six communities that receive the highest number of Facebook user “Likes,” or votes, before 7 p.m. on December 31 will receive the funds. The first place community will receive $1 million, with each of the five 2nd – 6th place vote getters receiving $100,000. The Grand Rapids/Wyoming market currently stands at #2. All dollars will be awarded to qualified hunger relief organizations in the winning communities.
